Hike to Fig Springs Ruin

February 5, 2015

We are hiking to Fig Springs Ruin on February 5, if the weather cooperates.  To attend this hike you must be a current member of AAS and Desert Foothills has priority.  The hike is to the top of a ridge which is fairly steep, but moderate.  Once on top of the ridge, movement is easy.  Sturdy hiking boots and a hiking staff are recommended.  There is brush and catclaw to contend with.  The hike should be around 3 hours, which would include a visit to the spring itself.  The ride to the spring requires high clearance vehicles, but not 4-wheel drive.  We will meet off of pavement and carpool from there.

Instead of a sign-up sheet, you must contact me either by phone or email prior to the day of the hike.  Details will be sent to all who sign up as we get closer in time and I can check the weather.  As you know February can be cold or quite warm.  There is no shade on the ridge.  There are some interesting petroglyphs next to the ruins that we will visit as well.  This is our second Chapter hike to this location, but many new members have not seen this site and it is worth the effort.
